It is a modern plant, recently introduced in European and American markets. It is cultivated intemperate climates with enough humidity, since it belongs to a subtropical type of cultivation. Two basic varieties are distinguished:
- Kiwi green-fleshed: ovoid shape, brown skin with tiny hairs, emerald green flesh. Very refreshing sweet and sour flavor.
- Kiwi gold: flattened shape, with a small crown at the tip and smooth brown skin, golden flesh. Sweet flavor.
It stands out for its high content in fiberand because it contains pfew calories, it is also rich in vitamin E and in smaller amounts contains vitamins C, B3, B6, B2, B1, and K, hcarbohydrates and minerals such as potassium, iodine, calcium, phosphorus, iron and sodium; as well as folates, antioxidants, riboflavin, thianin and niacin. Because of its properties, it is beneficial in combating estress; it has a diuretic and laxative effect; ffavors intestinal transit and prevents constipation, combats hhypertension, irenal insufficiency; it is beneficial during menopause and pregnancy; rstrengthens the immune system, is anti-inflammatory, helps prevent cardiovascular pproblems and feasy digestion.
When buying them it is advisable that they are not too ripe because soft kiwis tend to have a taste deficit and even bad flavor.
