Legaris Peñaranda de Duero red wine is a wine made with the Ribera del Duero designation of origin with grapes of the fine red variety from small vineyards in this town of Burgos, considered one of the most beautiful in Spain. Peñaranda de Duero has more than 500 inhabitants, but it hides some of the most precious vineyards in the country.
Peñaranda de Duero is made exclusively with the fine red variety from three small plots (Calderón, El Alto and 2 Enebros) located between 898 and 903 meters above sea level. They are vineyards planted between 70 and 90 years ago in calcareous soils, with sandy, clayey and silty areas.
ELABORATION
Alcoholic fermentation took place in a small conical stainless steel tank. It developed spontaneously, with native yeasts, in order to preserve the uniqueness of this area. Our intervention was minimal (except for frequent manual punching) and the expression of the grape is maximum. The malolactic fermentation was carried out in a tank cubic concrete.
AGING
Legaris Peñaranda del Duero was aged for 10 months in 500-liter French barrels. Subsequently, the final coupage was made and in order to maintain its typicality it was decided to bottle it in the branch (without clarifying and without filtering).
Intense ripe cherry color with a dark violet rim. On the nose, the notes of ripe red fruit stand out, along with the spicy nuances of its aging in the barrel. In the mouth it shows a fine and delicate profile, with a marked freshness that will maintain the balance over time.
