The spring was remarkable for its splendour and its drought, which led to a scorching June. The summer, more akin to a cool, rainy autumn, was followed by a warm, sunny and extraordinarily dry September, more characteristic of an August. The success of this vintage lies as much in the soil conditions as in the efforts of the winegrowers. The chalk, located in the lower half of the slopes and with excellent drainage properties, helped to eliminate excess summer water, which in turn reduced the excessive vitality of the vines. These elements, combined with increasingly expert viticultural techniques, allow us to advance even further in the search for the perfect balance in the quality and ripeness of the grapes.

Tasting notes for Louis Roederer Vintage Rose 2014

Pink colour with beautiful golden reflections. Smooth and even effervescence. Beautiful crown. Intense, fresh and fruity bouquet. Sabayon of fresh and tangy red fruits (forest strawberries and blueberries), slightly sweet, supported by more jammy, concentrated and citrus notes. On contact with the air, the aromatic complexity takes over with a parade of spices, hot cinnamon and pepper. Fleshy on the palate, the red fruit shows all its crunchy ripeness, and its texture is both creamy and deep. The fruity material gives way to a chalky mineral freshness that prolongs the tasting with a sensation of lightness and harmony.
