Manuka (Leptospermum Scoparium) is a shrub, cousin of the tea tree, which grows wild in the remote virgin lands of New Zealand. Used for centuries by the Tohunga, Maori healers, it is one of the most effective plants in traditional pharmacopeia.
Manuka only blooms for 4 to 6 weeks a year, between November and January. Bees have a very limited time to extract the precious nectar from its beautiful white flowers and turn it into a honey with exceptional properties and creamy texture.
These properties have been scientifically proven by hundreds of studies. Manuka honey has a unique activity that sets it apart from others. This non-peroxide function is measured by the "Activity and Authenticity Index" IAA®. This index guarantees the authenticity, purity, and activity of New Zealand honey. The level of methylglyoxal (MGO) present in the honey is partly responsible for these unique properties. The higher these indexes are, the more active your honey will be. All our IAA® honeys are analyzed by an independent laboratory to ensure their unique activity.
For many years, we have had direct supply channels with our beekeeping partners in New Zealand. This allows us to offer exceptional quality and consistent Manuka honey year after year.
