Martini Bitter Riserva Speciale is inspired by the original 1872 recipe created by Luigi Rossi, the founder of Martini, to which Ivano Tonutti, the eighth generation Master Distiller, has added three very special ingredients. This Bitter contains more than 20 herbs and roots, and three unique botanicals such as saffron, angostura and calumba. In addition, it rests in the same Piedmontese oak barrels that have already been used for Martini Riserva Speciale Vermouth. Ruby red in color, each of these three botanicals adds a different touch. Saffron has been chosen for its intense aroma and attractive reflections, angostura for its complexity on the palate, and calumba for its glyceric touch and breadth.
