Matsu El Viejo 2017

from Degustam

Temporarily out of stock

Matsu means "wait" in Japanese, and it is perhaps the concept that best defines this wine, waiting for the wine to mark what it needs at each stage and wait for the right moment to enjoy it. Thus Matsu El Viejo, is a wine that retains all the power and personality of the wines of Toro but with the softness and elegance of a modern wine

Vineyards and Winemaking:

Vineyards Selection of centenary vineyards of very low production, cultivated applying biodynamic techniques

Fermentation and maceration for 3 weeks in 10,000 kg concrete tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels, as does the 16-month ageing. This wine has not been filtered and has been clarified without the use of aggressive procedures.

Tasting Notes:

  • View: Deep cherry red colour, high layer, with violet notes on the edge.

  • Nose: Great aromatic intensity, with ripe black fruit aromas, well integrated with the toasted, spicy and smoky notes from the barrel.

  • Mouth: In the mouth it is full-bodied and fleshy with very ripe and round tannins that make it sweet. The aftertaste is long and persistent, the notes of ripe fruit appear again very well assembled with the roasted wood
