The Sanz brothers, from Bodegas Menade, have just released the first wine made in the Rueda region for the 2022 vintage, Dulce Menade Ecológico, 100&% Sauvignon Blanc.Debido to its production, Dulce Menade is normally the first wine to be marketed, as it is a natural sweet wine in which the grams of residual sugar come exclusively from the must of the grapes. The 2019 vintage of Dulce Menade has 10.5 degrees of alcohol and 65 grams of sugar, with a very balanced acidity that makes it a perfect accompaniment both as an aperitif and as a dessert. The typical aromas of the grape, tropical notes, pear and stone fruit stand out, as well as its freshness in the mouth, a hallmark of the winery. The 2019 vintage has been characterized by the lack of rain, so Menade decided to harvest the grapes earlier than usual in order to maintain, precisely, that 'wilder' and livelier side of the varieties. According to the winemaker, Richard Sanz,"the total acidity has plummeted due to the heat and the drought, which is one of the reasons why we have harvested earlier". In fact, the winery estimates that the total production of the 2019 vintage has been around 30 or 40% less than previsto.Dulce Menade comes from vines with very low yields, around 3,000 kg/Ha, located in estates with clay and pebble soil, which are worked organically, like the rest of the winery's plots.
