Lettuce is one of the most popular vegetables in our diet and stands out for its use as an ingredient in salads. The most popular varieties of lettuce are:

• Iceberg: compact head with round, crisp leaves, grown in the Campo de Cartagena, the Guadalentín Valley,  Águilas and Alicante.
• Little gem or buds

The leaves contain a lot of fiber, properties against anemia and weakness; they are also diuretic, help to reconcile sleep and cure mild bronchitis. They also contain vitamin A, in the greener leaves, and potassium, so they have antioxidant properties.
