Located in southwestern Mexico, Chiapas is the border region with Guatemala. It was Guatemalan before 1824. Its highly contrasting terrain includes coastal areas, valleys, tropical forests, and mountains, especially those of the Sierra Madre Mountains offering beautiful altitude and excellent volcanic soils.
The coffee is produced in a variety of ways
This coffee gets its name "Altura" from its altitude. It is grown at an altitude of nearly 1300 meters, which translates into superior bean quality.

Layac is 1st a family adventure led with passion by Celine and Julien. It was during a trip to Mexico that he discovered the coffee roasted over a wood fire. A real taste love at first sight for them that pushed them a few years later to create their own wood-fired roasting workshop in Vitrac, near Sarlat in Dordogne.
Layac roasts exclusively specialty beans, organic or from sustainable agriculture. The wood used to roast is local and certified from sustainably managed forests. Layac is also committed and donates a portion of its profits to an endowment fund that supports research and innovation to facilitate the daily lives of people with motor disabilities.
