Chard is a vegetable with wide, flat, and very elongated leaves with a green color that varies from pale and yellowish to light green or dark red. Both the leafy part and the white or stem part are consumed. The taste of chard is similar to spinach, although spinach has a more intense flavor.
The leaves are best cooked fresh, but they are also good when dried. The stem has a similar taste to the leaves. You can use them as an alternative to celery and lettuce in salads, stir-fries, or omelets.
Storage:
Like almost all leafy vegetables, their shelf life is very short, so they should be consumed within 1 or 2 days.
The ideal is to store them in the refrigerator in a container with damp paper towels or by spraying the container with a few drops of water to prevent them from wilting immediately.
