Originating from America, it was offered as a tribute to the Catholic Monarchs, in the Monastery of Guadalupe, Cáceres. Soon it was attributed culinary qualities and exquisite for stews, dressings and cured sausages.
With curative powers paprika was cultivated, for the first time, in the Monastery of Yuste.
