Rueda is an appellation of origin (DO) whose production area is located in the provinces of Valladolid, Segovia and Ávila. It is the oldest wine-producing Designation of Origin in Castilla y León.

The verdejo white grape, or simply verdejo, is a white grape from Spain. The clusters of this variety are small, it is drought resistant and adapts well to low fertile and clay soils. The wines are moderately alcoholic. They have a greenish yellow color with steely tones. They are very aromatic with aromas of bitter almonds. Their acidity is medium-high and they are full-bodied wines, but with a certain softness and a slightly bitter aftertaste
