Ron Dictador 2 Masters Ximenez Spinola
A 45-year-old Dictador rum from a 1976 vintage finished in whiskey barrels was shipped to Jerez de la Frontera, in the warm south of Spain.
There the rum was matured for 9 months in 50-year-old French Pedro Ximénez oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES BY CHARLES MACLEAN
Appearance: Deep polished rosewood, with crimson highlights. Slow,thick legs, indicating texture.
Aroma: A deep, smooth nose feel, slightly drying the nose, top notes are Christmas cake with burnt edges, with toasted almond flakes, turning juicy and meaty after a while.
Middle notes are both fruity (old Madeira) and floral - a heady, tropical lily scented fragrance on a hot night. The base note is reminiscent of burnt caramel.
Mouth: creamy mouth-filling texture and an overall sweetness, with molasses caramel on the mid-palate and a suggestion of marinated wine and glazed pork. Then a perfumed finish, pleasantly refreshing in the mouth with lingering warm spice.
Comments: Rich, smooth and rounded, layered and complex, with each layer of aroma and flavor revealing itself in turn.
