Bodegas Cobertizo
Many years ago our grandparents and Mr. Ramiro our father, cultivated their vineyards in Valtuille de Abajo in the heart of the Bierzo region, with all their care they made their wines with Mencía grapes in an old winery, which over the years has been improving the quality of their wines
Toni, acquired vineyards adjacent to ours that he uprooted and planted again from a trellised Mencia, pioneer in this planting system in the region, he firmly bet on the quality of the red wine Mencía del Bierzo, which without abandoning the traditional winemaking characteristic allows him to develop a continuous process of renewal and improvement, thus expanding the Ramiro Vineyard to the current extension.
In 1994, within this commitment to renewal, growth and quality of Bierzo wine and convinced that the old winery inherited from his ancestors did not meet the necessary conditions for modern winemaking, he decided, with technical and agricultural advice, to build the current Bodega Cobertizo in the Ramiro vineyard itself
In a few years and betting on the best quality in winemaking, Bodega Cobertizo has been equipped with the most modern technologies and avant-garde means such as the GANIMEDE tank, unique in the Bierzo region in the production of wines by controlled fermentation while preserving the best characteristics of the traditional method of Bierzo wines
