Solgar's Taurine is a natural supplement that accelerates the recovery of muscle fatigue. It preserves muscle power during exertion.
Taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid and is one of the most abundant in the body. It can be synthesized from Cysteine, depending on the amount of Vitamin B6 available. It plays a variety of roles in the normal functioning of the brain, heart, gallbladder, eyes, and cardiovascular system. Basically, its function is to facilitate the transport of sodium, potassium, and magnesium ions in and out of cells, and electrically stabilize cell membranes. It acts as a neurotransmitter in the brain, being the second most important inhibitory (calming) neurotransmitter after GABA. In the gallbladder, Taurine participates in the synthesis of bile acids, essential for the digestion of fats in the small intestine, and is also involved in the secretion of bilirubin and cholesterol into bile. Taurine is an essential amino acid in premature infants and full-term infants as they cannot synthesize it.
