El Velado 2019 -75 cl

El Velado is a beautiful old vineyard of 0.93ha located at an altitude of 600 meters. It is the first vineyard that we were captivated by in Lanciego and probably the best expression of the beauty and uniqueness of this place. El Velado was planted in the easternmost part of the village of Lanciego, and for the most part faces west and south, thus enjoying a warmer light. Because of this exposure, the traditional grafting was done mostly with Garnacha and Tempranillo and some other old varieties, including some white varieties. Its 80 years, its size and the sculptural shape of its goblet vines, make this a very special vineyard, full of light, which we wanted to bottle and express separately.The 2017 vintage will be remembered as that of the big frost of April 27 and 28 (down to -5ºC). Most of the plots in higher areas of Lanciego, such as this one in El Velado, were spared the frost to a greater extent. Otherwise, although it was a rather warm and dry year, El Velado and its garnachas are the ones that ripen most normally in these conditions, offering a fantastic wine, ripe and complete but at the same time with nerve and great balance.
