Pesto is a typical Ligurian sauce that dates back to the traditional medieval Ligurian passion for the use of aromatic herbs. The base of pesto is basil, defined by the ancient Greeks as a royal herb. In the preparation of pesto we use only Italian basil.
Typical Genoese pesto made with a high percentage of basil. Ideal for seasoning first courses based on pasta, in particular trofie or spaghetti, but also to garnish second courses based on meat or fish.Ideal with Trenette and all types of pasta, the pesto is ready to be poured directly on freshly drained pasta. For a better seasoning, add the pesto to the pasta cooking water. Try it also in combination with main dishes or to fill tasty canapés. Enrich the flavor of pizza with a few teaspoons of pesto. It is also great on salad tomatoes. Try it also in combination with seafood and fish carpaccio. The possible appearance of oil on the surface is normal, mix well before use.
