The zamburiña is a bivalve mollusk of the pectinidae family, similar to the viera but smaller, living both free and on the coast attached by byssus to stones, rocks, remains of shells and large algae. They inhabit sandy or sandy-muddy bottoms near the coast, at a depth of about 80 meters. Due to their scarcity they fetch a high price in the market
