Triga is a red wine of the D.O. Alicante MADE by Bodegas Volver.
Triga is a new project by Rafael Cañizares and Jorge Ordoñez. The winery is located in the village of Pinoso. The vineyards of Triga are located in the southeast of the municipality of Salinas and the northwest of Pinoso (Alicante), very close to the largest marble quarry in the world.
The grapes come from 5 vineyards, some of them planted in 1925. Four of them from Monastrell. Located in the Sierra de Salinas and in the Sierra de la Umbria and Sierra de la Sima. The Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard is in the Sierra de Salinas.
Triga grows and is produced under the Alicante, one of the most historical wine regions in Spain. Inhabited for 7000, 000 years, it has been producing wine almost since.
Only the oldest vineyards are used for the production of the Triga.
The vines are carefully monitored in all phases and processes, pruning, flowering, fruiting, ripening, maturing and harvesting and only the best plots are selected. These vineyards have very low yields, around 1to/Ha. Each parcel is harvested, elaborated and aged separately.
Malolactic fermentation in cask, 100% wine is subjected to a 20 months ageing in French casks.
The wine is lightly filtered.
Triga is opaque purple color. Explosive aromas of black and blue fruits are transformed into notes of licorice, Indian spices and floral oils. Rich and long, it has a good acidity that gives it elegance. In the mouth, sweet blueberries and currants stain the palate with persistence in a pungent and concentrated finish.
