Celler del Roure is a family winery located in the Valencian town of Moixent and run by Pablo Calatayud, a trained agronomist and musician
It is well known for recovering the Mandó variety from the south of the province of Valencia, with which it makes Maduresa, the flagship of this winery that began with 20 hectares of vineyards in 1996 and later expanded by 40 more, next to the Iberian village of Les Alcusses.
The three estates into which the property is divided are located at an altitude of around 550m, with very varied soils characterised by both sandy-loam and clay-limestone textures, where different varieties have been chosen: mandó (almost disappeared), monastrell (native to the south of Valencia and in Alicante), syrah, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot.
The vineyards have been planted with different varieties: mandó (almost disappeared), monastrell (autochthonous to the south of Valencia and in Alicante), syrah, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot
If you have the opportunity, be sure to visit the winery, where you can appreciate the underground earthenware jars used to make the best wines of Celler del Roure
