The Marqués de Riscal Verdejo White Wine 37.5 cl from Bodegas Marqués de Riscal presents this white wine from the Rueda Designation of Origin, made from 100% Verdejo grapes.
The winery has 220 hectares of vineyards with an average age of 25 years, dedicated among others to the planting of the indigenous variety Verdejo, a versatile grape with great character and personality, which is well adapted to the extreme conditions of the area, allowing the production of fresh or barrel-fermented white wines.
Marqués de Riscal Verdejo is one of the leading examples of white wines from the Rueda Designation of Origin. In its 2019 vintage, this wine becomes part of the winery's 100% organic wines, wines produced from sustainable agriculture and ecological production. The minimal intervention in the winemaking process enhances the varietal purity and terroir character of this area in the Duero.
After alcoholic fermentation is completed, the wine remains in contact with the lees in stainless steel tanks for 1 to 2 months. The lees settled at the bottom of the tank are moved weekly with nitrogen (battonage).
Optimal serving temperature: Between 8 and 10ºC.
The history of Bodegas Marqués de Riscal is the story of an innovative, pioneering, and reference company in a continuously transforming wine sector.
The winery was founded in 1858 by Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga. In 1862, their first wines were bottled, making them the oldest bottled wines in Rioja.
A few years after its foundation, the winery quickly began to win numerous awards, but one of the most important came in 1895 when Marqués de Riscal became the first non-French wine to receive the Diploma of Honor at the Bordeaux Exhibition.
In 1972, Marqués de Riscal began producing the first white wines from Rueda, and in recent years, the winery has ventured into the incorporation of two new designations in the project, V.T. Castilla y León and D.O. Getariako Txakolina.
For those who want to explore the history of the winery from its foundation to the present day with the possibility of enjoying Marqués de Riscal wines, in 2006, The City of Wine was inaugurated, which now has a hotel designed by the famous Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry.
