La Faraona 2022 Magnum is an exclusive wine from Descendientes de J. Palacios, produced on a steep hillside in Corullón. Its old vines and manual viticulture result in a wine of great elegance with marked minerality, complex and long-lasting.
La Faraona 2022 Magnum is one of the most exclusive and sought-after wines in Spain, produced by Descendientes de J. Palacios in the Bierzo region. This wine comes from a tiny plot located on an extremely steep hillside in Corullón, considered one of the great vineyards in the country. The vineyard area is only half a hectare and is situated at high altitude on slate soils, which gives the wine a marked minerality, tension, and elegance.
The vines used are often old and are grown under extreme conditions, employing a completely manual viticulture that results in very low yields. The winemaking is primarily done with the Mencía variety, adding small proportions of traditional white varieties found in the plot, thus following the rich historical tradition of Bierzo.
Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts, and aging lasts about 18 months in barrels, aiming to achieve the utmost purity of the vineyard's expressiveness. This wine stands out on the nose for its immense complexity, presenting aromas of fresh red fruit, flowers like rose and violet, as well as herbs and spices, accompanied by a pronounced mineral character. On the palate it is extraordinarily elegant, fine, and precise, with silky tannins, great freshness, and a very long and delicate finish.
The Magnum format (1.5 L) not only offers a unique experience but also allows for an even slower and more complex evolution, increasing its aging capacity and value as a collector's wine.
