Delicious and precious marzipan figures in the shape of an eel
Succulent and precious figures of supreme marzipan in the shape of an eel, filled with egg yolk, baked on wooden boards, garnished with glazed fruits, and hand-decorated with icing. Although some foreigners give eels other names such as dragons, snakes, etc., due to their serpent-like appearance, the truth is that the eel is an ancestral tribute from the marzipan guild to those that formerly inhabited the Tagus River as it passed through Toledo and were edible. Hence, the true eel should not have scales and, in order to be eaten today, it must be made of supreme marzipan.
