Alfalfa is rich in mineral salts such as calcium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, and vitamins such as beta-carotene, vitamins B and C, essential amino acids and fiber. It contains saponins (2-3%), flavonoids and sterols.
It has remineralizing, toning and hemostatic properties, it is used to treat disorders of the digestive tract, poor digestion, to treat jaundice and to liquefy clotting blood. Alfalfa is traditionally recommended as a tonic for indigestion, dyspepsia, anemia, loss of appetite, and poor assimilation of food. Its saponin content lowers cholesterol and reduces the risk of atheroma plaque formation (the cause of atherosclerosis).
How to use:
It is recommended to take before meals, two or three times a day.
Warnings
Because of its estrogenic effects, alfalfa should not be used in cases of pregnancy or during lactation.
