The Alión vintage, classified as Excellent, is a powerful, concentrated, juicy, and unctuous red wine. Alión wine is made exclusively with the tinto fino (tempranillo) variety from vineyards with an average age of 39 years, meticulously selected from plots distributed in the best areas of the Ribera del Duero D.O. These vineyards cover a total area of 70 hectares, spread across Padilla de Duero, Valbuena de Duero, and Pesquera de Duero (Valladolid), at an altitude of 750 meters. The harvest is done manually in small boxes of 12 kg. The founding of Bodegas Alión in 1991 by the Álvarez family, owner of Vega Sicilia since 1982, marked a milestone in the modernization and expansion of the company. With the creation of Alión, the aim was to offer a modern, accessible, and extraordinarily high-quality Ribera. This wine revolutionized the traditional concept of Ribera del Duero by presenting a profile of great structure, fleshy, and intense, while maintaining the characteristic elegance of Vega Sicilia. Alión 2019 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) can be enjoyed immediately or stored for up to 20 years, as long as it is kept in optimal conditions, thanks to its great aging potential.
