Almirez is a red wine produced by the Teso La Monja Winery in the Toro Designation of Origin, owned by the Eguren family.
This single-varietal Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) comes from its own vineyards located in Valdefinjas and Toro (Zamora), with ages ranging from 15 to 65 years. The winery practices environmentally friendly viticulture, avoiding the use of herbicides and systemic products, and organically fertilizing its vineyards.
The manual harvest was carried out between September 12 and 30, 2022, with a rigorous selection of the fruits both in the vineyard and in the winery. Fermentation took place for 8 days at a controlled temperature, followed by maceration with the skins for another 8 days.
Appearance: Intense cherry color with violet reflections, showing a high layer and brilliance.
Nose: Complex and deep aromas of fruit in liqueur, such as ripe plums, accompanied by notes of anise, brandy, roasted and coffee, with a spicy background and hints of well-integrated fine wood.
On the palate it is liqueur-like and creamy, with a velvety texture and sweet tannins. It has a pleasant mid-palate, with a pleasant warmth and notes of fine wood that add complexity. The finish is long and persistent, leaving memories of ripe fruit and spices.
