More information

Cesar Marquez Sufreiral is a red wine made from Mencía, Garnacha tintorera and other varieties of the D.O. Bierzo by César Marque Pérez.

El Llano is a plot more than 100 years old where the vines are planted on calcareous soils in the area of Toral de Vados. The grapes are always harvested by hand to ensure the quality of the grapes.

Spontaneous fermentation in 225 litre open barrels with whole stems. Aged for 12 months in 225L barrels.

César Márquez is the nephew of the famous winemaker Raúl Pérez who, with his support and that of his family, owners of the Castro Ventosa winery in Bierzo, decided in 2015 to make his own wines in a first harvest that produced a Godello from centenary vines from two small plots called La Salvación. Currently, he produces different plots of old vines where we find different varieties in addition to Mencía.

César Márquez Sufreiral Tasting Notes

Earthy aromas, clove, violet flowers, pleasant herbaceous touches and clearly mineral hints. The soil provides a special tannin, tension and minerality that makes it very elegant and delicate. Elegant, precise, deep and complex.
