In 1870, Joseph Dartigalongue acquired the property of "Lacroutz à Salles d'Armagnac" from where the name "Croix de Salles" comes from. Here he planted a modern vineyard of more than 30 hectares and set up an Armagnac distillery
For the production of Croix de Salles only white wines from vines determined by regulation, vinified by the traditional system and without racking are used.
