PROPERTIES:
Horsetail
Horsetail is a plant that is unique from a botanical point of view. Although horsetail has roots, it does not have leaves, flowers, or seeds. The spores are found only in the so-called fertile stem, which emerges in spring and has a shape resembling asparagus. Horsetail has always been highly regarded as a medicinal plant. It is currently highly valued for its high content of silicon, a mineral that is involved in tissue regeneration processes. It stimulates the regeneration of collagen and elastin fibers in skin tissues, nails, tooth enamel, cartilage, ligaments, and bones. Silicon promotes the "reconstruction" or regeneration of our tissues, as without it, the synthesis of collagen and elastin fibers cannot be carried out.
In addition to its remineralizing, diuretic, purifying, hemostatic properties, and its external application as a healing agent, it has traditionally been used to increase diuresis, acting as an adjunct in weight management. In cases of hypertension or heart disease, horsetail should not be used without medical supervision.
Artichoke
Choleretic (increases bile secretion) and hepatoprotective. It is recommended for dyspepsia, biliary colic, and liver insufficiency. It is highly recommended for hepatitis. Its antiradical activity also contributes to this.
- A study conducted over 6 weeks on 557 patients with digestive and hepatobiliary disorders showed a significant decrease in dyspepsia symptoms (abdominal pain, flatulence, nausea).
- Hypolipidemic: reduces cholesterol and other lipids in the blood, making it highly recommended for atherosclerosis. These effects were demonstrated in a study over 6 weeks on 302 people, with a significant reduction of 11.5% in total cholesterol and 12.5% in triglycerides.
- Hypoglycemic: Due to its inulin content, it is ideal for diabetics. It helps lower blood sugar levels.
- Diuretic, purifying, and urea eliminator: Suitable for albuminuria and renal insufficiency.
Peppermint
A herbaceous plant of the mint family, with a violet and quadrangular stem measuring 40 to 80 cm in height. The flowers are pink or violet, arranged in a spike. Native to England. The whole or chopped leaves are used.
Peppermint is also known as English mint, black mint, or lemon balm. It contains 1% to 3% of a very complex essence with over 100 components, with menthol being the most prominent, an alcohol responsible for most of its properties: digestive, carminative (expels gas), choleretic (stimulates bile secretion by the liver), antiseptic, analgesic, and tonic.
It also contains flavonoids and phenolic acids that contribute to the plant's antispasmodic, choleretic, and carminative action. Peppermint leaf is indicated for treating gastrointestinal spasms, gallbladder spasms, and bile ducts. Gastroenteritis, gastric spasms, irritable bowel syndrome. Hepatobiliary colic.
Senna
Senna is a shrub or subshrub of the legume family. Its compound leaves consist of 5 to 8 pairs of oval leaflets, yellow flowers, and a flattened pod containing 6 to 8 seeds. The leaves and fruits are used. Cassia angustifolia is also known as Indian Senna. Senna leaf or fruit preparations are the most widely used laxatives in the world. Senna leaves and fruits contain 2%-3% anthraquinone or anthracene glycosides, known as sennosides A and B, as well as mucilages and flavonoids that contribute to their laxative action.
The sennosides are inactive in their natural state. They pass through the stomach without alteration and are partially absorbed in the small intestine, to then be eliminated with bile. Upon reaching the colon, they are chemically transformed by enzymes produced by intestinal bacteria, releasing the active principle of sennoside (genin).
INDICATIONS:
Adjunct in weight control diets. Helps reduce body fat, facilitating the diuretic and digestive elimination functions of the body, expelling
