It is the remedy for people who have given up and lost hope. It is a deeper despondency than in the state Gentian, as people in the state Gorse practically refuse to be encouraged, since they are certain that their case is lost. If they are sick, they think it is incurable or they say they have inherited this or that from their families and therefore there is nothing that can be done for them.
However, Dr. Bach classified the Gorse flower under the group of 'uncertainty' and not as a flower for despair as, for example, in the case of the Sweet Chestnut flower. This shows that the main problem with Gorse people is the loss of certainty. If they could be persuaded to see things in a different light, their faith in life would be renewed and they could move forward with more certainty. This is what Gorse aims to achieve.
