Gin Tarquin's Pink Grapefruit And Elderflower Gin
This Tarquin's Pink Grapefruit And Elderflower Gin is distilled with 11 hand-selected botanicals, highlighting pink grapefruit and elderflower. No flavors or ingredients added after distillation. The purest traditional method of making gin has been followed. It is a modern version of a true London Dry. This special gin is inspired by the beautiful hedgerows of Cornwall in full bloom. A sip of this gin will make you feel like you are on its beautiful coast.
Production
For the production of this gin, the distillation process of Tarquin's Cornish Dry Gin is first carried out as a base. For this, 11 of the botanicals are added to the stills and left to macerate overnight in a wheat-based neutral grain spirit. As the stills heat up, Tarquin constantly monitors the process, sniffing and tasting the distilled spirit coming out of the still at different temperatures. Only the purest heart of the distillation is taken (achieved when the still has reached a temperature of 78 ºC), and the heads and tails cuts (the first and last part of the distillation) that do not have the most selective degree of texture and flavor are set aside. After distillation, this heart cut (around 76% of pure gin volume) is cut with demineralized Cornish spring water to bring it down to the desired 42% volume. Each bottle is filled and labeled by hand, dipped in a pot of paraffin wax, stamped with the Puffin logo, given tasting notes by batches, and also individually hand-signed.
