This Gin Tarquin's Rhubarb And Raspberry Gin has been distilled with pure water and 14 botanicals selected from all over the world. The best of a London Dry Gin with a fresh and fruity touch provided by the fruits it contains.
Production
For the production of this gin, the distillation process of Tarquin's Cornish Dry Gin is carried out as a base. For this, 11 of the botanicals are added to the stills (except for the violets, rhubarb, and raspberry) and left to macerate overnight in a neutral grain spirit made from wheat. Before turning on the stills in the morning, the missing violets are added to complete the recipe. As the stills heat up, Tarquin constantly monitors the process, sniffing and tasting the distilled spirit that comes out of the still at different temperatures. Only the purest heart of the distillation is taken (achieved when the still has reached a temperature of 78 ºC), and the heads and tails cuts (the first and last part of the distillation) which do not have the most selective texture and flavor are set aside. After distillation, this heart cut (approximately 76% of pure gin volume) is diluted with demineralized spring water from Cornwall to reduce it to the desired 38% volume. Each bottle is filled and labeled by hand, immersed in a slow cooker filled with paraffin wax, stamped with the Puffin logo, batch tasting notes are added, and each one is also individually signed by hand.
