Goyo García Viadero Finca Valdeolmos is a red wine produced under the D.O. Ribera del Duero by the winemaker Goyo García Viadero with Tempranillo grapes.
For some years now, Goyo García Viadero has decided to take a different path from the family winery Valduero. His approach focuses on highlighting the authenticity of the native varieties of Castilla León, opting for the recovery of old vines and the adoption of organic practices in the vineyard, as opposed to the conventional practices of modern viticulture that abuse herbicides and pesticides. He also avoids the use of enzymes, non-native yeasts and preservatives in the winery.
This Ribera del Duero winemaker produces wines in three different locations: Ribera del Duero (Olmedillo de Roa, Villanueva de Gumiel and Anguix), Cantabria in the Liébana Valley (Pumareña and Los Cos) and Ribera del Arlanza.
Finca Valdeolmos is located in Villanueva de Gumiel (Burgos), at an altitude of 890 meters, with a continental climate and sandstone soil over limestone. The vineyard combines Tinta Fina grapes with a touch of Albillo.
The grapes are harvested by hand, with fermentation lasting 10-15 days, followed by a 3-week maceration and an aging period of 16 months in extra-fine grain Burgundy barrels. It should be noted that the wine is neither stabilized nor filtered.
This is a dense red wine that displays fragrances of fresh red fruit, hints of floral violets and balsamic touches.
On the palate, it shows remarkable smoothness, with a voluminous and appetizing sensation.
This medium to full-bodied wine exhibits vibrant acidity and refined tannins. The finish is long and lingering.
