La Estrada Alta is a small vineyard of only 0.64 hectares at an altitude of 610 meters. It is located in the highest and westernmost part of the village of Lanciego, in a very poor soil. It is a vineyard from the 1940s, worked in goblet, grafted in the traditional way in the vineyard itself, using mostly Tempranillo and some Graciano. Facing northeast, it is located at the top of a hillside of pure chalky clay. We have always been fascinated by this very small vineyard for the purity, depth and balance of its wine. The 2017 vintage will be remembered as that of the big frost of April 27-28 (down to -5ºC). Most of the plots in the higher areas of Lanciego were spared the frost, as was the case of La Estrada. Otherwise, a rather warm and dry year, especially after the frost but also in March. The final rains and an early and healthy harvest, have offered expressive and intense wines, but full of equilibrio.Botellas produced: 1.932
