Also known as the "King of Mushrooms," Maitake is considered an adaptogenic tonic, useful for rebalancing the body's functions, increasing vitality, and boosting the immune response. A series of studies have highlighted the importance of Maitake in the treatment of metabolic issues.

Numerous studies conducted since the 1980s have shown that the polysaccharides contained in Maitake have a unique and particular structure that makes them very potent even when administered orally. Among the various fractions of isolated polysaccharides, the efficacy of fraction D and fraction X was evaluated: the first was particularly effective in the immune system, the second at a metabolic level. More recent studies and observations have shown that the whole mushroom (mycelium and fruiting body) is more effective than the extract at a metabolic level and may be useful for controlling weight gain and rebalancing lipid profile, while supporting liver function.
