The airplane pineapple is allowed to ripen in the field for 8 to 10 days longer than pineapples that travel through other means of transportation. We can recognize a ripe pineapple when it gives off a delicious aroma, the leaves in the center start to come off, the pineapple begins to take on a dark green color, and its skin starts to shine.
