San Simón da Costa cheese is a Galician cow's cheese chosen Best Smoked Cheese in Spain at the 33rd edition of the Salón del Gourmet and which won the Gold medal at the World Cheese Awards 22; a medal that adds to the Silver medal won at the World Cheese Awards the previous year held in Oviedo (Asturias)
It is a semi-cured cheese made with pasteurized cow's milk, rennet and lactic ferments.
It has a mild lactic flavor with a pleasant hint of nuts and butter, leaving an aftertaste and intense smell of smoky birch.
It comes from Quesería Prestes, a family business in San Simón (Lugo) in which its maxims are respect for tradition, care in the production and the high quality of its raw materials resulting in true gourmet delicacies that have been awarded numerous awards both nationally and internationally
