The smallmouth bass, also known as sea bass, belongs to the family of the serranids, order Perciformes. From the same family is the cabrilla (serranus cabrilla), a fish with brown or reddish vertical bands on its skin and yellowish-white longitudinal bands, which facilitates its identification
