It is grown in temperate climates, its season is from June to September and there are three basic varieties of cucumber: - Short cucumber and gherkin: Spanish variety, about 15 cm long, green skin with yellow or white stripes. When harvested small, they are used for pickling. - Medium long cucumber: French variety. - Long cucumber: Dutch variety, over 25 cm long. It has a high content of water, if consumed with skin it provides fiber, vitamin A, and carotene. Due to its high water content, it has diuretic and laxative properties. It is consumed in salads and gazpachos, and it is recommended to eat it fresh and with the skin to take advantage of its properties.
