Ernesto del Palacio (Tito) is raised among vineyards and ancient cellars where their ancestors produced red wines and verdejos of San Roman de Hornija from their own vineyards. In the past there were no industrial wineries and the winegrowers made their own wine in the ancient cellars selling it to the muleteers who travelled to the north of Spain, Castile and Leon, Asturias, Galicia etc.. Where they distributed the wine in the most important warehouses, and thanks to these they made the wine of San Román de Hornija known
In the case of the DEL PALACIO family this wine culture, according to family data, begins in 1715 when the Del Palacio family began to sell and produce a unique wine from centenary vineyards, those of Toro, which were among the few that did not suffer the plague of Phylloxera that devastated Spain in the late nineteenth century and the last year that is produced in the ancient winery is 1961 when the grandfather Ernesto del Palacio Gómez dies and his son Ernesto del Palacio Velázquez decides not to continue with the traditional production and sell the grape harvest to the new industrial wineries that have appeared in San Román de Hornija.
Tito since he was a child has had the illusion of making a modern winery with all the technology and ethnology available today without losing the agricultural roots which is where a good wine is born, and it is in 2019 when our first vintage "Ernesto del Palacio" linked to the Toro Designation of Origin comes to light.
Bodegas Ernesto del Palacio is a dream and a purpose. It is the 300 years of history and the desire to return to the winery, to create an experience, to improve what we are.
Since then, with a small interruption, the Del Palacio family has worked with enthusiasm and perseverance to improve something unbeatable: the tradition, care and dedication of an entire family making unforgettable wines, blending the past and present to create wines of the future.
