Domaine Ostertag, Gewürztraminer Vendanges Tardives Fronholz is a white wine made from Gewürztraminer by Domaine Ostertag in Alsace (France).
Fronholz was once the name of the forced labour of farmers for their masters. The Fronholz is a hill southwest of Epfig along the Vosges with an extremely rare southwest exposure in Alsace.
A predestined place for the late harvest. The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of October/beginning of November. The grapes trapped at the bottom are slowly and gently pressed to extract all the grapes and all the aromatic nuances of the fruit. The wine is vinified in stainless steel tanks and bottled in spring to capture the fresh fruit aromas.
The nose has incredible aromatic complexity even in its youth, delicately revealing notes of dried flowers, sweet almond, sweet peach and a hint of quince.
The palate is enveloping, the delicacy of the material will surprise more than one. The fruit is of great purity and the touch of sugar is incredibly successful. The finish ends with saline touches that add brightness. A great Alsatian late harvest wine of great purity and superb balance.
