The sea trout, also known as brown trout or reo, corresponds to the species Salmo trutta trutta, of the salmonidae family. It closely resembles salmon, being of intermediate size between salmon and trout. Sea trout is a fatty fish, as it provides 12g of fat per 100g of edible portion; with extremely good quality fat. It is high in omega-3 fatty acids. In addition, it contains proteins of high biological value, as well as vitamins and minerals. It is a source of phosphorus, selenium, iodine, and potassium. Among the B vitamins, vitamin B12, niacin or vitamin B3, vitamin B6, and thiamine or vitamin B1 stand out, contributing to normal energy metabolism. In terms of fat-soluble vitamins, sea trout has a high content of vitamin D (covering 75% of the recommended daily intake for men and women aged 20-39 who engage in moderate physical activity).
