It is also effective against asthma and whooping cough. Also used fresh and crushed leaves of this plant to apply them to the phlegmons, abscesses and festering wounds.
It is curious to note that the famous Martin Luther was in great esteem this herb and she treated her numerous ailments.
Some German surgeons, according to Mattioli, prepare a decoction of goldenrod which they give to patients to drink to heal internal wounds and fistulas. And they also use it in the preparation of ointments, because, many say, is admirabilísima to consolidate.
Arnald of Villanova praised it as admirable to provoke urine and break kidney stones.
Parts used: The whole plant with the root, especially the flowering tops.
Active components: Essential oil, tannin, flavonoid pigments, saponoside, citric, tartaric and oxalic acids, bitter principle, inulin and other substances.

Mix 1 or 2 teaspoons of flowering tops of this plant with 250 gm of cold water. Boil and then let it stand for a couple of minutes. Drink 3 cups a day.
Cognition: As an astringent. Pour 15 gm of dried flowering tops of goldenrod in half a liter of boiling water. Just give them a light boil, then leave the plant in the water itself for half a day
