PROPERTIES: Organic whole grain basmati rice has the highest nutrient content among all types of rice. It also does not contain fat, cholesterol, sodium, or gluten, making it suitable for those with celiac disease. It contains vitamins B, E, and K. It also contains minerals, including a notable amount of manganese, 21% magnesium, 27% selenium, iron, calcium, copper, potassium, and zinc. It is a good source of complex carbohydrates, which provide energy for the brain and central nervous system. It provides a significant amount of protein and fiber. It helps maintain blood sugar levels within acceptable limits.
PREPARATION: Organic whole grain basmati rice contains high amounts of starch, so it is recommended to rinse it. Additionally, its long grain needs optimal hydration in order to elongate further. For these two reasons, it is recommended to soak the basmati rice in plenty of fresh water for 60-90 minutes and gently stir to allow the water to penetrate the grains. Then, it should be strained and rinsed with fresh water. This technique ensures that the grains do not break and that the cooked basmati rice has a better consistency and greater fluffiness. It should be cooked for about 15 minutes. If not soaked, after rinsing, it should be cooked for 45 minutes over medium heat.
