Ornellaia is a red wine made by the Ornellaia winery in the IGT Toscana using the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot grape varieties.
Winemaking Process: After careful manual harvesting of the grapes, two rounds of selection were carried out on a table before destemming and gentle pressing. Each variety and plot were vinified separately.
After spending the first 12 months in French oak barrels, the final blend was made, which then returned to the wood for another 6 months of aging. Ornellaia was further refined in the bottle for an additional 12 months before being introduced to the market.
