75cl Bottle

This wine is the expression of the magnificent vineyard of Mas de en Xes located around the Perinet winery. It is the pure representation of a classic wine from Priorat, respecting the most important varieties of the region.

An authentic sample of the terroir, and the senses of the place and the Perinet estate, a very particular identity of this unique corner between Poboleda, Porrera, La Morera and Siurana. The intention of this wine is to achieve the same level of fruit and tannins from a wide range of varieties. That is why the complexity in this wine is extreme, full and rich in many ways. The color is intense ruby and the nose brings us notes of vanilla and coconut, well integrated with notes of blackcurrant and raspberry. Mature tannins and polysaccharides favor a full mouth sensation, emphasized by a prolonged aging in oak barrels.

THE VINEYARDS OF PERINET

The vineyards of Perinet encompass three great visions of historic Priorat. The project as a whole allows the vines of Perinet to shape a new balance of styles in winemaking. Specifically, the three climates of the vineyard correspond to three styles of wine: warm and ripe: Mas Vell, fresh and long: Mas del Xes, and Mediterranean and aromatic: Pendents, in the municipality of Porrera.

The three plots show a strong personality where various local and international varieties grow on steep slopes and terraces of different exposure and orientation. This authenticity of the landscape is conveyed in different wines from the estate, always linked to the climate and slate soil of Priorat.

Winemaking: The ripeness of the fruit from Mas d'en Xes comes in different stages in terms of ripe fruit and tannins. The first sorting is done plot by plot. The grapes are harvested and selected exclusively by hand. All batches are cold contained for two days before starting their fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Twice a day during maceration, a pressure air remontage technique is performed, which lasted more than 30 days in order to obtain an optimal wine. The free-run wine is achieved by decantation, the skins and stems are pressed very gently. Finally, aging was done in oak barrels for aging.

The fermentation is 100% stainless steel, and the aging is 15 months in 40% new oak and 60% in one-year-old French and American oak

The region boasts the coveted DOCa..

Currently, the region boasts the coveted "Denominación de Origen Calificada" designation, which in Spain is only shared with Rioja.

The Denominación de Origen Calificada Priorat is a small mountainous region located in the province of Tarragona. The Montsant mountain range delimits it to the north, to the west is the La Figuera mountain range, to the east is the Molló mountain range, and to the south, the territory opens following the course of the Siurana River downstream towards the Ebro. The Siurana River and its tributaries are the main geographical artery of the area, and create a series of valleys and small plains thanks to the geological sinuosity of the mountains and mountain slopes. According to Catalonia's legislation regarding regional administrative division, the territory of the DOCa Priorat falls within a larger administrative delimitation known as the "Comarca del Priorat," which also has a part of the territory that is not part of the wine-growing Priorat.

The Denominación de Origen Calificada Priorat has an area of 17,629 hectares, of which 2,163.97 are planted with vines and cultivated by 513 viticulturists. Administratively, 9 municipalities are part of the DOCa Priorat: Bellmunt del Priorat, Gratallops, El Lloar, El Molar, La Morera de Montsant (which includes the village of Scala Dei), Poboleda, Porrera, Torroja del Priorat, La Vilella Alta and La Vilella Baixa. Additionally, on the limits of the DOQ Priorat, the northern part of the Falset municipality (the Masos de Falset area) and the eastern part of the El Molar municipality (Les Solanes del Molar) are also found.
