Abadal, a traditional winery with over 8 centuries of history

Abadal was born with the enthusiasm to showcase the winemaking potential of the Bages region (in the heart of Catalonia) and to transmit its essence and personality. It is characterized by an innovative spirit and a connection to the world of wine that dates back over 8 centuries! They produce expressive and authentic wines, with native and unique grape varieties, with a clear intention to convey the sensations of the lush and special wooded landscape that surrounds them.

Expression and depth

The Abadal 3.9 Finca Wine is the living expression of the plot where it is cultivated - polygon 3, plot 9; hence its name - with limestone soils on red clay.

Serving temperature: 16ºC

Winemaking: The vineyards of Abadal 3.9 have the peculiarity of growing in a wooded terrain of limestone soil on red clay. These are 30-year-old vines that enjoy low rainfall and a marked thermal oscillation between day and night. Combining traditional winemaking techniques with cutting-edge concepts results in quality grapes with identity. When the grapes reach optimal ripeness, they are selected and harvested by hand.

In the winery, each variety of Abadal 3.9 is vinified separately, in stainless steel tanks, controlling the temperature and maintaining the traditional "submerged cap" within the fermenting mass. It then ages in different French and American oak barrels of 1 and 2 years for 12 months. Finally, it rests for another 12 months in the bottle before being released to the market.

It is a vineyard wine that comes from a unique vineyard; specifically from polygon 3 and plot 9. A very special area whose limestone soil provides fresh, mineral, and balsamic sensations that are quite interesting.

Pairing: at Made in Spain Gourmet, we recommend it with Cured cheeses, sheep or goat. Roasts, game meat, Iberian cold cuts, grilled red meats, and stews.

Abadal Winery: a wine oasis in the heart of Catalonia.

Authenticity

Synonymous with differentiation, and with the desire to reflect the identity of the territory and its unique wooded environment, they choose to highlight the local grape varieties, which reach their maximum expression in the terroir of origin. The Picapoll, the Mandó, and the Sumoll are living examples and could be said to be ambassadors of the essence of the region, providing a unique stamp to their red and white wines. It could be said that this is the maximum expression of terroir.
