The Congo Red Wine from Bodegas Canopy presents this red wine from the D.O. Méntrida, created from 100% Garnacha grape varieties. Its production is only carried out in exceptional vintages, using only selected bunches.

Congo comes from old garnacha vineyards located in Real de San Vicente, south foothills of the Sierra de Gredos, at an altitude of 750 meters and with an age of 50 years.

Elaboration: Harvested in boxes, this wine comes from a selection of the best bunches from the best plants in the vineyard. Pre-fermentation maceration in cold and, subsequently, gentle treadings for 22 days. Malolactic fermentation in 700-liter barrels with a 16-month aging in French oak.

Bodegas Canopy

Bodegas Canopy is located in the town of Camarena, 40 kilometers from Toledo and 70 kilometers from Madrid.

The origin of Canopy wines lies in the different steps of the harvest, from the double selection of grapes, once in the vineyard and another in the winery, to when the wines start to be made, stomping the harvest in small 1500-liter tanks to extract all the aromas and nuances from the grapes, in the gentlest way possible. Throughout this process, respect for the raw material is extremely important, so no additives are added. The purpose of all this is for people to enjoy the wines as much as the team at Bodegas Canopy enjoys making them.

The true treasure of the winery is the different garnacha vineyards in the Sierra de Gredos, located at high altitudes and with siliceous-granitic soils, cultivated without any chemical products or herbicides, in order to maintain the vineyard soil as living gardens. In this way, the characteristics of the garnacha grape are respected to produce the best wines from Gredos.
