Description of the plant
Perennial shrub with large, long, narrow leaves, growing from the base of the plant. Short, thick, gnarled subway rhizomes; grayish-brown on the outside and yellowish-orange on the inside.
Habitat and distribution
Tropical plant of warm and humid climate. It is grown mainly in India, China, Java, Peru and Haiti.
