Secastilla Red Wine
Bodegas Viñas del Vero owes its name to a river in the Somontano region. Viñas del Vero was established in the Somontano Designation of Origin at the end of 1986 with the acquisition of 550 hectares of land in Barbastro and other nearby towns.
Bodegas Viñas de Vero is the first winery in the Denominación de Origen Somontano by volume and quality of production. The company has 1,100 hectares of vineyards and produces 6.5 million bottles a year. The Secastilla Red Wine is marketed by González Byass Winery.
González Byass Winery was founded in 1835, currently owns 1,844 hectares of vineyards spread throughout Spain and its wine production satisfies national and international palates.
The Secastilla Red Winehas a Denomination of Origin Somontano, has been made 100% with the Garnacha grape variety, this wine has been aged for 10 months inoak barrels.
Vino Tinto Secastilla is a single varietal Garnacha, from very old vines planted in the Secastilla valley.
Viñas del Vero uses fertilizers from mostly organic products such as manures and compost.
The grapes are harvested by hand, with a first selection of grapes in the vineyard itself and a second on a sorting table. The grapes are de-stemmed and then cooled in vats. Fermentation takes place at a temperature below 25ºC and lasts 15 days.
